Wie ihr weiter unten sehen könnt, wurde am 11.08.1973 die erste Block Party von Kool DJ Herc ausgerufen.
Diese Party, zusammen mit Cindy C., steht bis heute für die erste echte Jam, die erste Block Party und ist in aller Munde, spricht man über die Beginne dieser Musikkultur in den frühen Siebziger. Ich bin offizielles Mitglied der Zulu Nation seit 1993. Seit diesem Tag, der mich sehr stolz gemacht hat, liebe ich diese Kultur und habe – so denke ich jedenfalls – eine Menge dazu beigetragen, sie bestmöglich zu repräsentieren und interessanter zu machen.
Rob Swift hat nun das nachfolgende Video veröffentlicht, in dem er gestern für einige der Vorväter und Architekten der HipHop Kultur auflegt. Hier der originale Text zum Post:
Hip Hop has facilitated a path for me to live an out of the ordinary life, and so I’m grateful for Hip Hop. The culture, along with all its commandments have helped me expand and grow into the person I am today. For that reason, I’ve made it my life’s work to pay if forward. Happy birthday Kool Herc, Afrika Bambaataa and the Zulu Nation, Grand Master Flash and the Furious 5, GrandWizzard Theodore and the Fantastic Freaks, Grand Mixer D.St. and the Infinity Rappers, Jazzy Jay and the Jazzy 5, Tony Tone/Charlie Chase and the Cold Crush Bros, Rock Steady Crew, Dynamic Breakers, Jam Master Jay and Run DMC and the rest of the pioneers who’ve helped sustain Hip Hop for the last 46 years. Respect.
